An unpublished Merovingian tremissis
Lot 3482
MEROVINGIANS. Uncertain. Circa 600-650. Tremissis (Gold, 12 mm, 1.23 g, 7 h), ...nulfus, moneyer. ✠ [...]VCO Pearl-diademed head to right. Rev. [...]NVLFV Cross pattée with pellets in angles. Depeyrot -. Prou -. Unpublished and unique, and of great interest. A few light marks, otherwise, good very fine.

Unfortunately, the reading of the legends on this lovely tremissis is uncertain. The obverse clearly names the mint, ending with ...VCO (or ACO?), whereas the reverse provides the name of a moneyer, ending with ...nulfus (Ragnulfus?). Alas, these fragments are too short to assign the coin to a known mint or moneyer
